Commissioned by Metro Tunnel Creative Program

Curator - Global Art Projects

Grattan St Gantries, Parkville Station Construction site, Parkville, Melbourne

In 2019, the Metro Tunnel Creative Program ran workshops with numerous organisations across the Parkville University and Bio Medical precinct to come up with a theme that resonated with all institutions in the area. The organisations agreed that showcasing the precinct’s ‘unsung heroes’ would be a great way to share some noteworthy stories that people may not have heard.

Around 20 organisations contributed information, and these were turned into stories by local writer Sonja Dechian. The stories were then given to local illustrators who engaged with the written pieces to bring them to life in their own creative way.

The stories can be downloaded here: Parkville Storytelling

The Organisations that contributed stories included:

  • Graduate House

  • Bio 21 Institute

  • Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne

  • Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity

  • Walter & Eliza Hall Institute

  • Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre

  • Murdoch Children’s Research Institute

  • Royal Women’s Hospital

  • Ambulance Victoria

  • Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health

  • Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • The University of Melbourne

  • The Poche Centre for Indigenous Health
