Dust Covers Utility Rooms

This exhibition Dust Covers Utility Rooms is comprised of a series of works exploring everyday domestic life.  During five drawing performances held in her kitchen, bathroom and laundry, Wlodarczak drew while sitting in a bathtub filled with primed linen, leaving against vanity cabinet and kitchen sink wrapped with linen, sitting on a stool wrapped in linen.  The process of drawing is almost a ritual and is performed on fabric wrapped over the objects documenting the everyday domestic rituals and objects' purpose through revealing their hidden shapes as she explains:

The creative process I employ when drawing on linen (Dust Covers) is the intention to record the present time continuous moment.  This is the way in which I try to convert living energy into the drawn line... The line I draw is shaped into outlines of real things that my eye registers by its every glance.  These drawn linear shapes accumulate across the picture forming ever growing substance of drawing.

The works are actual dust covers now stretched onto frames but which previously covered the objects in her home.
