Here and Now, 2016

Here and Now presented nearly 100 works by Arts Project Australia artists throughout the hotel in Sofi’s Lounge on Level 1, Lobby Gallery and in the Atrium Gallery on Level 35.  The exhibition featured small collections of recent work by: Alvaro Alvarez, George Aristovoulou, Boris Cipusev, Alan Constable, Ian Gold, Ruth Howard, Bobby Kyriakopoulos, Julian Martin, Chris Mason, Kaye McDonald, Warren O'Brien and Terry Williams.

 

Since its inception, Arts Project Australia has continued to strive for excellence, both in the quality of the exhibitions presented and the quality of its innovative studio program. Established in 1974, Arts Project has been a leader and innovator in the arts and disability sectors. The first full time arts studio in Australia for artists with an intellectual disability, Arts Project has built an enviable reputation nationally and internationally for: its creative and individual studio philosophy, its professional and dynamic gallery program, as well as the outstanding artwork produced by its artists. Arts Project represents emerging, mid-career and established artists. The artists enjoy exhibition opportunities in prominent local, national and international galleries with many artists represented in public and private collections worldwide.

In recent years, Arts Project has collaborated with leading artists, curators and organisations in Australia and overseas. Notable amongst these has been collaborations with The National Gallery of Victoria, Darren Knight Gallery, Andrew Baker Gallery, Robin Gibson Gallery, West Space, Chapter House Lane, Next Wave, Gertrude Contemporary, Fleisher/Ollman in Philadelphia, White Columns in New York and most recently with Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and Global Art Projects.

 

Arts Project was also a venue partner for FLAIR: A Melbourne art event 18-21 August 2016 which showcased a series of curated exhibitions, talks and experiences at the top end of Flinders Lane. Presented by ARC ONE Gallery, Craft, fortyfivedownstairs, Arts Project Australia Collins Place Pop- up (supported by NKN), Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and Global Art Projects.
