BA (Visual Art),
PGDip Arts (Gallery Management and Arts Administration)
Prior to establishing Global Art Projects I worked for many years in arts funding, administration and management roles in both the public and private sectors. My experience is primarily in exhibition development and touring, but I have also developed and implemented cultural policies and programs for several government organisations and also managed major public art projects and commissions.
One of the most enjoyable projects I've worked on has been Australia's official participation in the Venice Biennale of Art, which I project managed for 10 years. I also enjoyed the challenge of working as a Creative Producer developing a complex and exciting program of exhibitions from artists throughout the Commonwealth of Nations for Festival Melbourne2006, part of the cultural program for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games
Along with creative development and delivery, I take responsibility for the financial management of projects at GAP, and am particularly interested in the logistics and strategic planning of exhibitions and projects.
I am currently involved in a number of industry committees including being a member of the City of Melbourne's Arts Advisory Board, and member of their Arts and Heritage Collection Panel. I am also a member of Arts Victoria's Touring Victoria Committee. I was previously Chair of the City of Melbourne's Contemporary Art Acquisitions Panel, member of the City's Public Art Advisory Committee and Laneways Commissions panel. This involvement gives me the opportunity to continually see a broad cross section of contemporary art practice from throughout Australia and helps to keep me informed about the exciting developments within the visual art sector.
