Andrew Rogers is an internationally recognised Australian sculptor currently engaged in creating major contemporary art installations. To date, his geoglyphs (massive land art works) have been constructed in the Arava Desert, Israel; the mountains of Bolivia; the Atacama Desert, Chile; and in Kurunegala, Sri Lanka.
Rogers’ first Australian geoglyph at Geelong’s Eastern Park comprises an installation of local stone laid out in the design of his ‘Rhythms of Life’ motif. Simultaneously, Rogers has created a geoglyph in the You Yangs Regional Park, southwest of Melbourne, in collaboration with the Wautherong people. This takes the form of Bunjil, the sacred mythical ancestor of the local indigenous people, and is best viewed from above.
