One of the most spectacular experiences of Festival Melbourne2006, the W11: Karachi to Melbourne project brought five Pakistani artisans to Australia to decorate a Melbourne tram and offer the experience of journeying along the W11 mini-bus route in Karachi. The vibrant tram was adorned with fluorescent hand-cut sticker collage, stainless steel panelling, tassles and flashing lights, complete with conductors and music to enrich the experience. Passengers were able to collect a limited edition set of tickets that featured the imagery and Urdu poetry typical of transport in Karachi.
