7th Venice Biennale of Architecture
September - November 2000
Lyons
Architects: Lyons
Project Manager: Global Art Projects
The Australian Pavilion in the Venice Biennale gardens was transformed for the 7th Venice Biennale of Architecture into a giant cityscape by Melbourne architecture firm Lyons.
City of Fiction was a large interactive installation of brick sized postcards depicting Lyons' project work and design propositions. Postcards formed an abstracted image of the Contemporary City. Visitors to the exhibition were encouraged to take a souvenir postcard thereby changing the cityscape day-by-day.
Initiated, developed and managed by Global Art Projects this exhibition was the first Australian presence at the Venice Biennale of Architecture since 1991 and was extremely well received by the public and critics.
